Symptoms: 
The symptoms include watery diarrhoea that contains blood or mucus, nausea or vomiting (feeling or being sick), severe abdominal pain, stomach cramps and a high temperature (fever) of 380C (100.40F) or over.
Tests to diagnose: 
The tests include stool sample examination, blood test, an ultrasound scan and a colonoscopy – a type of endoscopy used to examine your bowels.
Treatment: 
Dysentery usually clears up after a few days and no treatment is needed. However, it is important to replace any fluids that have been lost through diarrhoea.
