Symptoms: 
- Severe pain on one side of the body
- Radiating pain down into the legs or sometimes even feet
- Tingling or pins-and-needles sensations

Tests to diagnose: 
- X-ray
- CT scan
- MRI
Note: X-rays do not detect herniated discs.They are used only to rule out other possibilites of back pain like infections,tumors or a broken bone.
